The SON is shining brighter...On my way UP to the Mountain!
God and I talk lots every day! He's my Savior, my source, and my strength even on days when everything doesn't quite make sense. He's God of the mountain and He's also God of the valley. He's my Savior and I depend on Him to get through some of life's most difficult challenges.
This summer I've been busy with work, church, enjoying time with friends and family, and writing on my book. One day recently, I was in Colonial Williamsburg with my husband and we stopped to look at the sheep! They are sooooo cute! We got to talking about their features and why they prefer still water. Then in the quiet of the moment God said, "Alicia, I'm your Sheppard of the valley, and I'll lead you beside still waters where we can spend some time together. I'll guide you when you tend to go astray, and I'll tenderly watch over you. Just trust me."
My favorite part of Psalm 23 is this part: Yea though I walk THROUGH the valley of the shadow of death.....I've been walking through the valley of grief, but there is good news! I feel like I'm at the bottom of the mountain and starting to climb up! So, it's in this post that I'd like to say that I'm on my way starting to climb the mountain. There will be good days and bad, but the most important thing is that Jesus, my Sheppard will be with me every step of the way!

Alicia...God's Princess!
God and I are having a BLAST!!!! He's showing me daily how much He loves me and cares for me! This adventure causes me to be still and know that He is God!
A couple of weeks ago my best friend and I attended a new friend's church! A few weeks prior I decided I needed a new outfit because I just wasn't happy with any of my current outfits! So off to Steinmart I went to find a new outfit! It took a bit but with some help I found some pants, a shrug, earrings, and my very first pair of high heels! Let me tell ya, I felt like a princess in that outfit!!!
Sunday came and we went to our friend's church! We sat down and the service began. Their pastor was celebrating his 50th birthday! To celebrate he went skydiving! I heard God say, "Alicia you need to take a leap of faith like that and let me do the rest." The service went on...The sermon began and it was about completion in marriage. Let's just say it was about being fruitful and multiplying and doing it God's way! That's all I'm gonna say bout that cause this Jesus girl gets way to embarassed! I know and I'm married! Go ahead and laugh!
I got a couple of compliments on my outfit that day. I felt pretty, girly, and just overall great in that outfit! God said to me, "Alicia, you're my princess and you're beautiful every day of the week to me no matter what outfit you wear." I choked back tears during the service knowing that on a sunday morning in a mega church in Richmond, VA God reminded me of my value to Him!
Now....Onto the fun girly stuff! I"ve bought a little makeup lately but the BIGGEST NEWS is.......
I stepped on the scales today and to date I've lost 9 lbs! THANK YOU LORD! I feel GREAT!
Today I want to challenge you to spend time with God and let Him speak to you and tell you how lovely you are in His sight! You are His Princess and He delights in YOU!

Going Girly....Becoming a more Godly girl too!
It's Monday! I'm running behind, but never too far behind to take time to spend with God. Although this new adventure of going girly is fun, my priority will always be to spend time with Jesus and to continue to grow in my relationship with Him! Period.
Recently, the Holy Spirit has been prompting me to simply be still and know that He is God and He has my best interests at heart. Let me tell ya girlfriends, last week didn't feel anything like that neither did yesterday which was Sunday. However, in the midst of all of life's situations He bids this Jesus girl to spend time at His feet to become a more Godly girl!
Let me tell you that still small voice is powerful. Recently, the spirit led me to read a book that a friend recommended. I thought oh that looks like a good book but I'm busy going girly, working hard, being a wife, and the list went on. THEN the spirit spoke. "Go down to the library and have them order the book for you." I headed down to my local library and did just that. The name of the book is "Leading with Passion and Grace" by Joyce Strong. Well, let's just say I'm far into the book at this point and have walked away feeling convicted and encouraged! If you are in ministry of any kind this is a great book to read. It gives you a heart check from the Holy Spirit! You've been warned!
Now, onto this whole going girly thing! I just finished hopping on the scale. I lost another .5 lbs! Squeal that means I've lost 4.5 lbs! Bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me bless His holy name! Psalm 103:1. It's exciting to be loosing weight! Glory be to Jesus and Him alone, because I can't do this without Him, trust me!
Yesterday was my first day giving up potato chips...Yes, I'm giving them up completely. My substitute?!! Crunch Veggies! There'll be no dipping those veggies either in fattening ranch dressing...It's not easy but it's going to be worth it!
Well that's all...this Jesus girl has got to hit the shower. I"m due at my best friends house to try on my new outfit. God bless that girl, she's hemming my pants for Sunday! I love her, she's an amazing Best Friend!
God bless you,
Alicia Roark

Ohhhhhhh La La!!!!! Going girly is FUN!!!!
It's Monday! I'm glad to report I'm making process in the area of going girly! It's just been a week or so, but I'm getting there! God has been faithful to remind me of how He sees me and it brings me to tears at least once a week! Yep, I'm tender-hearted! So that might not be so girly, but it's how He made me and I'm ok with that!
It is with sheer jubilation that this chick has lost 4 lbs in the first week! SQUEAL!!!!!!!! I"m excited! I've got more weight to loose but it's ok! Now, let's talk about the stuff that has completely pulled me out of my comfort zone! The old Alicia never wore earrings, heels, shirts/blouses that even remotely showed any skin. Well, I am here to report that yours truly went out in search of a new outfit! I am going out of town in a couple of weeks to a friend's church. I needed an outfit. So, off I went to Steimart (My hubby works there) to see what I could find.
I walk in and Sean (my hubby) introduces me to one of His coworkers. She is Russian and quite delightful! So, I explained to her very quickly about my promise to mom and the fact that I need an outfit for church in a couple of weeks. Well, it didn't take her long and she had me in a dressing room full of clothes. She'd be honest and let me know if it looked good or not. We finally got the pants to match the top and a shrug because I'm cold natured! Well, then came jewelry. I DO NOT wear jewelry. This chick wears her wedding set! A watch here and there, but that's it. I've had my ears pierced before but I've never thought earrings looked good on me...Well, on this night I LOST that battle. The lady begins to pull out earrings and LONG ones. Finally she pulled out a pear that matched the embellishments of my top that I recently bought. I turned beet red. I told her, "There's no way, this looks awkward." My husband chimed in, "No honey, it makes you look really feminine and it shows of your beautiful neck." I wanted to sink through the floor at this point. I was BEET RED! I lost the battle and now I had earrings...then came bracelets...Yep, I have a bracelet too!...It feels weird but I'll get used to it. THEN came the unthinkable...SHOES...
We walked over to the shoes and the lady quickly pulls out High Heels. I said, "Whoa, this girl doesn't wear heels at all." She said, "Oh but you must try (in her adorable russian voice). One pair then another then another then FINALLY....There was one pair I tried on...THEN came the unthinkable. My hubby is on his knees admiring the outfit from the floor and then growls and says "Ohhhhhhhh la la...Those heels make your legs look long and sexy." I was completely done at that point. So red and by this point the entire staff was involved in the process. Yep....My hubby said I looked SEXY. in public. I am beet red just typing this!
Ok so we finished shopping and came home. I went to my bedroom shortly after we got home. I was worn out from trying all that stuff on. Then I heard God whisper, "You are beautiful to me every day of the week." Tears....Oh if we could all see ourselves as Jesus sees us! Who ever knew that going girly could teach this chick so much?!!!
I will be posting pictures of me in the outfit! Thank you for coming along on this journey with me! I thank God for each of you who read this blog although I have no idea who any of you are!
Beautiful in the eyes of Jesus,

Out with tho old in with the new..
This adventure with God I do not take lightly. You see without God there is no adventure. On this day, I've started something new. I have a new routine! I will no longer sleep til 7:30-8:00...As of this morning my new wake up time is 6:00 A.M. You see, this adventure takes discipline! There are some things that just must occur! The very first thing that will occur is that I will read my bible and do my prayer time FIRST THING not after my to-do list and after catching up on Facebook. GOD will be FIRST!
Sometimes an adventure can be uncomfortable. God has asked me to do some house cleaning in some of my relationships. HARD...Absolutely, but it must be. You see, God wants me to be friends who encourage me, are positive people, and who sincerely care about me. Let's flip the page...that road goes both ways. I need to be that kind of friend too. I actually heard an amazing sermon online yesterday (I was at home ill). Be the kind of friend you want to have. So, that's also part of this adventure. I"m going to be working on me and how I treat my friends/acquaintances.
There are some old ways that need to go of mine. Let's see, like stinking thinking. Yep, old satan loves to have a hay day with me and speak lies of doubt, discouragement, and confusion. However, God's voice is more powerful and through the pages of God's Word I will memorize, speak, and defeat Satan with God's Word!
Another part of my routine will be exercise! I've already worked out this morning! You see in my garage is workout equipment! It's been collecting dust...So, we (Sean, my hubby, and I ) cleaned them off made sure they're in good working order. I walked on the treadmill this morning and worked on my legs! Just like my spiritual health needs to be in order so does my physical! I have a goal to loose about 25ish lbs!
Last but not least, during my quiet time this morning, God has laid on my heart to find a female spiritual mentor. I am currently seeking God about a Godly woman who can be my spiritual mentor and encourage me in this walk. We'll see what God does here!
I'm attaching a song I was listening to during my morning work-out...I hope it blesses you!
God bless your day,
Alicia Roark :)

The Friendship Adventure Begins!
This adventure is exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time! It's just been a little over a week! During this week God has moved me to tears, sent me to my knees in prayer, and has constantly whispered, "Alicia, just trust me."
Trust. It's a big word for me! These days letting anybody new in is HUGE for me. I've been hurt so often in my young life that I'm hesitant to let anybody in, especially NEW people. The scripture verse for this whole adventure is: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6.
So, have I made any progress in the Friendship adventure this week?!! I thought you'd never ask! Of course I have! I actually put myself out there and invited one of these people to do lunch one day this summer and she agreed! No date has been set! I think it's safe to say that I have a list of 6 people. They come from all different walks of life. There's a college student, two ladies from my church, a real estate agent in the next city over from me, and two authors. Six different people God has put in my path! It might take me a bit to get to know these people. Also, during this adventure there are some friendships that I will nurture that are already in place. There are 5 specific friendships that I will work on nurturing! I"m excited.
Out of all 11 relationships new and old...6 of them are long distance! Yep, go figure! It's worth it though. I think Mom would be proud. Speaking of my mom, there's a song I'm going to attach to this video. If there were any song that I feel mom would use to talk to me and give me words of widsom this song would be it. I have only listened to it once since she died because it sends me to tears EVERY time.
So, onward I march toward the friendship adventure! Come along! Follow this blog and let's celebrate this adventure with God together! Watch the video below please! Psst...Leave comments for me! i love getting comments on my blogs! Be nice please!
